Soma welcome back stalwart Mark Reeve for the first in a two part series that sees his classic track Dice given the 2014 update work. Dice stormed on to the techno scene almost 2 years ago and
was one that helped propel Mark into the limelight. He has since gone on to record for Cocoon, Drumcode and of course Soma since then, all big room smashers. Who best to open these reworks than
Mark himself. While staying true to what made the original such a hit, Mark has actually managed to make this track even BIGGER. Heavy subs and a thumping kick drive this even more as the quirky
vocal cut chops through the groovy percussion. Swedish duo Manic Brothers step with their interpretation of Dice and easily make this own. They hit the dance floor with all guns blazing as a
thunderous groove pile-drives home and one almighty break gives this version real power. This is big room Techno at its baddest!
Jay Denham is one of the second generation Detroit techno pioneer - musician, dj artist and producer from Kalamazoo, Michigan - city right in the middle between Chicago and Detroit. His style is a unique blend of these two worlds - chicago house and detroit techno, with a kalamazoo thouch. He stays true to the underground, makes the music for the art of it and always remembers where he comes from.
Denham's solid musical background takes its roots in 70s, when little Jay opted for a four-string bass guitar over a six-string electric. By age 17, Jay has been playing high school party gigs with his rock band. During these teenage years, he developed a taste for punk and New Wave, though still influenced by funk acts like Rick James, Parliament, Cameo, Zapp, and later Prince and The Time, as well as by electronic music of Kraftwerk.
In 2011 “the big year” Mark releases his first EP on Cocoon Recordings and “Daybreak On Mars” gets its first spin by Cocoon boss himself Sven Väth. Not only the leading track had heavy support from Väth and others but also “Lichtkleid” got its heavy plays by non other than Minus icon Richie Hawtin. 2012, Mark teamed up with Pig & Dan, which has proved to be an amazing partnership. Soma Records was the first label to finish the final step and release the first EP, which is available now. Mark will also be releasing his “Dice” EP on Soma Records in May which makes everything complete. Not only can his original tracks be heard, but also remix projects have been started and finished from Extrawelt, Arnaud Le Texier and Moonbeam - just to name a few. Mark is known as a non stop DJ. As an artist, he has now had his most important releases on cult label, Cocoon Recordings but also Soma, Bek Audio, Traumschallplatten, Trapez, Herzblut and Bedrock. His tracks are always a mixture between dancefloor moovers - including groovy rhythms - and big basslines.
Tiger Power Weekend! Upto # 41 @ Beatport House !!! DJ Falk - Mueve (David Jones Remix) (Tiger Records)
we are more then happy and proud to announce a new member to our family.
The Liveact Confronted will be represented by us worldwide.
“Vibrant, dark electronic and pulsating beyond the auditive belief...“ A liveact by CONFRONTED could also be
described differently - the feelings afterwards, however, always remain the same. In his actual setup he combines the
sound of his past two liveact tours “audiophunk“ and “family backstage“ through europe into a warm tribal acustic
fog, which dissolves in a variety of styles, ready to be inhaled. The charismatic 35 years old Frankfurt guy performs
live his ideas and grooves in such complex manner that normally requires six hands! All this results in a
bombardment of electronic emotion with his typical pure techno sound.
As Alex D-Part he celebrated his DJ debut in 1993 in the venerable old Dorian Gray (Frankfurt/ Germany) and in 2009
his debut as a liveact. He presented his own and very distinct definition of banging techno in the Tresor Club Berlin or
even in the Airport Club in Wuerzburg. As an artist and as a producer he stands for straight techno and he knows how
to celebrate this sound in a small club or even on a huge stage.
As the A&R of Plakat Records and as a resident artist of the successful series of events "MOVE" in Frankfurt he
produced and published in 2010 his first very successful international vinyl debut "lakai" on Plakat Records. Releases
can be found on labels like Chris Hope´s Subcodex as well on Esoulate Music, Deep Night Music, or actually on
